Hollowmyth.net will be a place for myself and others to discuss mythology, legends and storytelling.
I would like it to be more than a factual place to learn about myths. I want it to be a place to deconstruct their meaning. I want to explore their place in humanity’s history, the factual events that may have spawned them and what mythologies we are creating today and into the future.
Hopefully it will be a place to share artwork, music and other forms of expression inspired by the discussion.
When I was little, my brother let me borrow a flimsy, square 45 that he’d gotten in some sort of magazine. It had something like 3 or 4 ghost stories and would slip on the player, even after placing a coin on it. The stories were told with moderate sound effects and the speaker’s voice had a strange cadence that made them all the more eerie. I remember being absolutely chilled by those tales. I later learned that they were classic stories, the hitchhiker, the weeping woman in the graveyard, that had been re-purposed for a new medium. It fascinates me that these stories continue to endure and evolve over time.
So, I’m shooting to have something live in the next month. You have my word.
